White Out

(#7, #17)

This was the best picture my husband could muster today. I'm sorry. I'm tempted to start training Baby C to take pictures...but I know she'd just run away with my phone with a maniacal laugh.

Anyway, it was a gorgeous day in Seattle (i.e. not raining and above 60), so I felt I needed to embrace the summer-ish weather with white. And not surprisingly, it took me less than an hour to get dirty. Wearing white for me is like tempting the gods (and little hands).

Predictability

(#4, #15, #22)

Hi all! Sorry for the delay - I was out of town for a few days, I had a friend's wedding with events all weekend...you know how it goes.

Are you predictable? I am. My favorite color combo is black and white, my favorite color to wear is green and my favorite accessories are turquoise. I'm surprising myself that not everything I've worn up to this point has been black and white with green plus turquoise accessories. This is good for me in so many ways. But I allowed myself to put on one of my favorite turquoise necklaces (yes, I have more than one - I told you it's a problem) and not feel bad about it. At least I'm not wearing a green sweater.

Neon, Neon

(#3, #13, #22)

I love fedoras. I love them because everyone looks good in them, they add effortless style to anything, and they protect your face from sun (hello cancer and premature aging!). But mainly, I love fedoras because I didn't feel like doing my hair today and I have a zit the size of Mt. Everest right in the middle of my forehead. Not cute. So cute headgear it is.

I love pairing neon with neutrals (it's pretty hard to screw up), but I love also pairing them with other colors. How happy are we that neon is back in style?! But I'm afraid of other 90's-era trends that I'm seeing - I'm looking at you, floral denim and crop tops. 90210 and New Kids on the Block have already made a comeback. Everything really does come full circle... I just hope not scrunchies.

It's Easy Being Green

Sorry, Kermit. In my green jeans, I love living the emerald life. I could really pair everything with these pants (#5), but for everyone's benefit, I'll refrain. Some people are afraid of wearing anything colorful with bright pants, but I boldly accept the challenge in my multicolored silk top (#23).

Anyone else love the new colorful bottoms this season?

Every Time I Come Around (Bling Bling)

(#2 and #17)

Mama put her fancy shoes on today! Little factoid - these are actually the shoes I wore at my wedding (see - even at my wedding, I didn't wear heels!). I love breaking them out occasionally, and it makes me reminisce about that heavenly day almost 4 years ago.

Today's outfit was nothing fancy - literally a t-shirt and shorts. But put some sparkly shoes and a bright patterned scarf and it feels complete. Just goes to show what a few accessories can do.

Four Eyes

Excuse the glasses. Me and my contacts are usually at odds on overcast days, as it's been in Seattle the past few days. Plus, I had to take a test for my Econ course, and my glasses make me feel smarter. I need all the help I can get - supply and demand, "no such thing as a free lunch"....oh Econ.

Although the picture is a little blurry, I hope you can still tell I'm wearing a black t-shirt (#20) with my white linen skirt (#7) and my oatmeal cardigan (#26). I am absolutely in love with my necklace (found here at Le Mode accessories). My awesome necklace is making up for the fact I'm not wearing shoes. Hey! I'm studying! Do you wear shoes when you're studying? Didn't think so.

Attack of the (Almost) 5 1/2 Foot Woman

Look how good I am at candids! You can't even tell I know a camera is there! In accordance to the "no getting out of my seat" rules of my photographer (also known as my loving husband), now you see my living room due to an intense game of Legend of Zelda that I'm curiously watching. But I have no idea I'm getting my picture taken.

In other news, I. LOVE. maxi skirts (Item #1). It's sneaky because people think you're dressed up since you're wearing a skirt, but really, it is the most comfortable item I own outside of pajama pants. Top it with a gray tissue t-shirt (Item #19) from J. Crew and I might as well be in pajamas. And even though I am standing on stairs, don't I look tall? I always thought I was too short to wear maxi skirts (I'm 5'5), but I feel like it lengthens me. Actually, it's so comfortable, I don't care if I look like a hobbit.

Breaking All the Rules

So I'm wearing navy and black together. Just call me a rebel. And I'm wearing multiple striped items. Might as well lock me up and throw away the key. I've got on my seersucker shorts (#3) with my black thin strapped tank (#15) and my black and white striped cardigan (#25). Oh, and if you've noticed my shoes the past two days, they will all be flats or sandals. I just don't believe in heels. Never have, never will. It's pretty much a holiday around these parts when I put them on.

Oh, and you may have also noticed my plethora of sweaters for a June-July clothing experiment. Here in the Northwest, you may think summer begins on June 21st like it does everywhere else. But I'll let you in on a little secret - it doesn't actually start until after the 4th of July. So it's still raining and getting up to a balmy 55 degrees right now. Yep, my heat is on in June. It's cool.

I hope my husband's picture taking skills get better as this experiment goes on. Right now, it's "I don't want to move from this chair", so please have a look at my lovely heating vent in my hallway. I mean, thanks Husband for your support...

Blackjack

2+8+11 = 21. Oh wait, this isn't a card game? If you're keeping up, I'm wearing the taupe shorts (#2) with the sleeveless coral top (#11) and my navy long cardigan (#8). I tied it together with a patent yellow belt and some braided leather sandals, which were both recent purchases from Target. It was a super easy outfit for finger painting (which is what I supervised) and running errands. I also ran...just not in this outfit. I always get weirded out when I see people running in street clothes, mainly because I'm convinced they are running away from something. Does anyone else think that or is it just me?

30 for 30

Confession before we start? I got lazy and it's really 27 for 30. I just couldn't pick out any more bottoms. That'll probably come back to haunt me around Day 24, but whatever. I'm up for the challenge.

Another confession? Most pictures will probably be taken on my phone. I hope that doesn't bother you. I can't seem to find my camera when I need it (like now) and my phone is just easier.

Last confession - most pieces are at least 3 years old (white linen skirt = 8 years old!), so unlike other people who do this, I probably won't be linking back to specific items as to where to find them. If you're REALLY curious, leave a comment and I'll let you know where I found something. Most things are from Gap, Old Navy, Target or H&M.

So, without further ado, I went shopping in my closet and found:

Seven bottoms/dresses.

They are:

1) Black maxi skirt
2) Taupe shorts
3) Seersucker shorts
4) Bootcut jeans
5) Green jeggings
6) Orange jersey dress
7) White linen skirt

Twenty tops.

They are:

8) Navy long cardigan
9) Gray cardigan
10) Coral hoodie (sometimes, a girl just needs to wear a hoodie)
11) Sleeveless coral top
12) Gray ribbed tank
13) Pink ribbed tank
14) Green ribbed tank
15) Black thin strap tank
16) Purple crewneck t-shirt
17) White crewneck t-shirt
18) Black and white striped t-shirt
19) Gray v-neck t-shirt
20) Black crewneck t-shirt
21) Blue and white striped button up
22) Yellow cardigan
23) Silk top
24) Purple cardigan
25) Black and white striped cardigan
26) Oatmeal (it's a color) cardigan
27) Short sleeved black and white polka dot cropped cardigan

Just to remind you, I'll be making 30 different outfits out of these 27 pieces. Accessories and shoes won't count against my number, just FYI. Oh, and I'm clearly not a model. Most pictures will probably be taken at the end of the day after makeup has worn off, hair might be frizzy, and outfit may be stained. But if nothing else, it's honest. Just preparing you.

See you next week for the first 30 (27) for 30!

Did You Miss Me?

Oh Em Gee, readers. I am SO sorry. A few updates of why I've been MIA:

1) Having an energetic toddler. 'Nuff said.
2) Said toddler has moved from 2 naps to 1 nap. BOO.
3) Preparing for my Masters program to begin in August, but I'm currently taking an Economics course as a prerequisite. Homework, reading, tests and more homework. DOUBLE BOO.
4) I have channeled my blogging time into A) reading "The Hunger Games" trilogy, B) scouring Pinterest or C) searching fashion blogs, which leads to D) online shopping. TRIPLE BOO.

Don't hate me.

I do have some stuff planned, mainly involving my love of fashion blogs and the fear of spending too much time/money online shopping. Yes, 8 friends, I will be doing a 30 for 30 (please see the lovely Kendi Everyday for rules/my inspiration).

"What's this?", you ask.

Well, ever feel like you have a closet full of clothes with nothing to wear? And don't say no - because I know you're lying. To show myself and the blog world that I do indeed have a versatile closet, (and to tell J. Crew Factory Store, Target and Old Navy they cannot have any more of my money), I will be taking 30 items from my closet and mixing them up to make 30 separate outfits. I will be posting pictures of all the items I'll be using AND my daily (or kind of daily) outfits. EXCITING!

Okay, maybe not that exciting. But kind of? If you feel so inclined, I'd love to have some company! If you have a blog and would like to do your own 30 for 30, we can be buddies and I'll link back to you!

Be back soon with my 30 for 30!
